Orion has been volunteering, mentoring, and educating children for over a decade and was a certified middle school math and science teacher in South Carolina for five years.

They are originally from Chicago, Illinois (home of their favorite food – deep dish pizza), and moved to South Carolina to attend university. They graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor's Degree in Middle School Education: Math/Science. They love reading, sewing, coffee, their very cute cat, and all things nerdy, including superheroes, sci-fi, and D&D!

Making connections with students and families is their passion. They have done one-on-one tutoring work with many of their students and have been able to see incredible success, both in test scores and in overall instructional understanding. Having grown up with ADHD, they specialize in working with neurodivergent students and love helping students connect to the content in the way that makes the most sense for them.

Orion’s greatest skill is gently guiding the students they work with as they wrestle with complex concepts in a way that is fun and not frustrating. Orion looks forward to helping students reach their full potential and feel confident about their educational abilities!
